Hello!
Our Spring Concert will be May 7, 7:00 pm at Bellevue Elementary.
Students have music for the concert and we will be starting to work on it in class, as well as continuing to progress through our book.
If you like apps, there are some great metronome and tuner apps for your smartphone or tablet.
My favorite tuner app is called 'Bandmates'.
It is a free app, and has some great features. Students can select their instrument and the displayed pitch is transposed for their instrument. It also shows a pitch notation for the pitch they are playing in addition to showing whether or not students are in tune.
Another good tuner app is called TonalEnergy. It doesn't have the transposition feature of Bandmates, but it also works very well.
My favorite metronome app is MetroTimer. I believe there is a free version and an enhanced version. The free version allows students to adjust the tempo and volume. The enhanced version allows students to adjust subdivisions and time signatures.
Here are some websites that can really help your band member:
This website has a free, online tuner. You will have to give it permission to access your microphone so it can hear your pitch.
Metronomeonline.com is free and on-line. A metronome is a digital device used to help keep a steady beat. A student can play along with the metronome click to make sure they are keeping a stead beat and playing each note the correct length. They can adjust the tempo to suit whichever tune we are playing.
You can also download tuner and metronome apps to most tablets and smart phones for free or a nominal charge. There are also individual devices available at music stores in a variety of price ranges.

musictheory.net helps practice naming notes. Students can select either bass clef or treble clef and can customize range and accidentals. This is also available as an app for personal devices. The MusicTheory.net website also has numerous other skills you can practice, such as note construction, key signature identification and ear training.
Name That Note is another note naming practice site. It is timed and scored so students can challenge themselves to increase their score as they become more fluent.
Rhythm Trainer has two ways you can practice rhythm. You can have the computer play the rhythm and you can select the rhythm it played, or you can see they rhythm and select which rhythm should be played.
